It must not be hot out, Kmele made it to the pod

I might show up to the second Sunday just so he feels the heat again.

Beat me to it—I was gonna say that it looks like Kmele’s AC finally got installed.

I will not countenance an endorsement of Young Sheldon, gentlemen.

TOO BAD.

People are allowed to like shitty TV.

Have I ever watched Young Sheldon alone, on purpose? Of course not. Is it that almost non-existent show where all members of the family can enjoy watching together? Yes. That is all.

Watching Young Sheldon alone at your age is akin to leaving comments on porno sites.

At its core, I believe this is the most important function of TV.

Easily the worst Welch take. Snek is rolling in his grave

I have been boycotting ever since my mother endorsed it saying, "it reminds me of the trials of raising you"

It is a great show, even if you're like me and don't like Big Bang theory. Matt, you have my full support. We watched the whole thing as a family. Enjoyed by all

Have never watched an episode of Big Bang, FWIW.

Expand full comment

What?! The show is brilliant. I think you’d like it. Surprising since you know it is the precursor to Young Sheldon.

Expand full comment

Maybe I need to reconsider and give it a try. I just assumed since it was a spinoff of Big Bang Theory it must suck, because that show is objectively terrible. Not sure if this makes me a bad person, but I immediately lose a little bit of respect for anyone who admits to liking Big Bang Theory.

I don’t take it personally. 😆

All credit to Stephen L. Miller (@RedSteeze) for these takes on the CBS nonsense:

1) Kamala had a pretty strongly pro-Israel response to one of the questions on 60 Minutes (e.g., Israel has the right to defend itself against terrorist/Iranian aggression and the US supports that), which was then edited to be more tepid and focus on the need for a ceasefire.

A fundamentally different answer, to be sure, but, given what we know now about CBS’s stance on Israel (the Tennessee Coates kerfuffle, the declaration that Jerusalem isn’t part of Israel, etc.), is the more likely reason for the edit that it better conforms to CBS’s worldview?

In other words, the edits weren’t done to make Kamala sound more coherent (a Sisyphean task) but rather to make her sound less supportive of Israel.

2) The questions Tennessee Coates was supposed to get were vetted by CBS’s department of racial whatever AND shared with Coates beforehand (as confirmed by him). Is it that much of a stretch to assume this was also done with Kamala prior to her 60 Minutes interview? And, if not, why not?

Of course I love you guys and discretion being the better part of valor I also understand how that makes Moynihan in particular a regular Sir Freaking Galahad lately but sometimes when listening to his otherwise interesting anecdotes I feel like *redacted* listening to *redacted* talking about *redacted* with *redacted*. Planning to start filing FISA warrants to hopefully get the rest of the story. (Kidding aside I actually appreciate the instinct to protect your friends & acquaintances I'm sure that's why y'all have so many)

Fingers crossed re: the pilot for a new procedural it sounds like Matt will be pitching to CBS: Special Race Unit. And speaking of TV shows I can't be the only one who listens to that Kamala on Colbert clip and thinks of Queen Latifah's incredible star turn as Congresswoman Regina Bookman on 30Rock (the troops! and the flag troops!)

I came across an article that I think the guys and listeners might appreciate: "Why Ta-Nehisi Coates Hates Israel" by Helen Andrews (I'm not American and had never heard of her or this magazine before stumbling upon the article).

Opening line is: "Ta-Nehisi Coates’s fundamental problem is that he is a narcissist." It only gets better from there.

As the son of a delivery man, I spent a lot of my formative years on the road listening to Howard Stern (and Rush Limbaugh and Jim Rome and Don Imus; weird kids make weird adults, as should be self-evident). His descent from iconoclast to whatever you'd call him now has been stunning to behold.

I babysat three times in my life. For one family. I was 14 and would let the kids stay up to watch Howard Stern’s tv show with me. That gig ended quick.

Okay, so Moynihan had drinks with a “marginally notable” guy in a MAGA hat who was jacked and could’ve beaten the shit out of the soyboy who confronted him. My only question: Was he clothed or stripped down to his tighty-whities?

Also, I think you guys are missing your in on how to get Trump on the podcast. Matt and Donald need to bond over both watching Braveheart for the first time 25 years after it came out.

I think I saw Braveheart about 15 years after it came about and I wouldn't have minded waiting another 25. Terrible movie.

Stephen L. Miller took the available clips and overlayed them on his substack. It was much more than what just Kmele played.

CNN is defending CBS editing Kamala’s answers to help her campaign by bringing up a time when fox and friends did the same for trump. that’s baffling to me. they’re either admitting that CBS is in the tank for kamala or they think CBS and fox news are on the same level.

If people could stop outsourcing their moral standards to their enemies, that’s be great.

Sounds nice but this is a known challenge of competing with a group that’s playing by different rules. You can have the largest news org by viewership doing this biased treatment and everyone just shrugs/says ah that’s just Fox News (The Fifth Boys included). Creates a very uneven playing field. Agree on the principle but also think there should be much more calling out Fox News and others (even if they’re friends) for this type of approach.

Expand full comment

Interesting!

I’m of two minds. 1: Call out hypocrisy wherever you see it because it’s so infuriating and also should be a good call for others to examine their principles. 2: Calling out hypocrisy is like shooting fish in a barrel at this point.

Rationally, I don’t know where I fall.

Emotionally, I just want to tune out and forget it all.

same. he used to somewhat stick to his smug/cringe tagline in his podcast intro "i want someone who will make me think", but it seems like from the beginning of the russia incursion and now through the last year in israel, he is fully credulous towards one side, and does nothing but make bad-faith characterizations of the other side.
