Don’t Blame Steve brings our Spotify playlist (yes, I said our *plays USSR music extremely loud*) to an exact and even 16 hours. Is that enough time to drive to Chicago? Miami? Is that the amount of time it takes me to get from Queens to the comedy cellar on the F train?
Threat received! Just upgraded to NFC! Got notice that our company is going to be audited by the IRS so why not?? While we can’t write off the scrip as a business expense, I might expense it as healthcare related as you 3 keep us sane. I wish everyone in the country could understand what it is like to run a small business and how much BS busy work the govt bureaucrats add not related to the actual function of our business.
Rejoice — we’ve made it to yet another Second Sunday Zoom Hangout w/ The Fifth Column!
Important Note: We’re keeping things a little more intimate this week. Zoom access will be restricted to current Never Fly Coach subscribers. We’re enormously grateful for your support and look forward to chopping it up with many of you all later today.
Man, the one time I'm around for a Second Sunday and they go NFC for it. It's like being back in school - I'll have to just imagine what the rich kids are up to.
also as a side note; any one other than me think all 4 of the guests on the FP thing with moyn looked really tired? There was something around the eyes that seemed, idk, weird. :D
In light of hearing Katherine Mangu-Ward's bit from 2012 that she exhumed for our benefit ( https://reason.com/2012/10/03/your-vote-doesnt-count/ ) I would like to offer a proposal. I have never been a voter, but I think when I was in army training I may have because I recall the phrase "military votes funding, this time it's republicans" being said to me. I assume that it was in some kind of mandatory "civic duty" FTX where voting was offered as an alternative to KP. I am unsure if I voted or not, but barring that, I don't vote.
My proposal: If there were people out there that like me, who have not voted, and don't want to vote, is there a way we could sign some legally binding document to give up the right, in exchange for some kind of designation as a "Non-political actor" where we could get access to various things the media / Washington deems to "volatile" for the general public?
Since it seems very likely that "suppression" of one form or another is going to be the new norm moving forward, it would maybe be a way to utilize the many folks that don't vote as a kind of test bed. Things considered "too dangerous" in the media or to teams red and blue could be auditioned to this group of folks to gauge reaction with out the fear that it would effect voting. The information would come out eventually, so its not like the non-voters would be censoring things. It would just be a method of fast tracking by a group who technically have no agency in the fight.
I just thought of this on the fly, so I will assume the position for any response, but I ask that you be gentle and maybe put on some soothing music beforehand. :)
So, to sum up, you propose that the government reward you for **not** voting with access to forbidden media, on the condition that you give them your opinion of it, and it is in the interest of the government to do this because they can use your opinion to more effectively tune their voter suppression efforts. That is a very interesting proposal. I propose you start taking lithium.

I wonder if it would irritate Margaret Sullivan that every time I see her name I think she is Margaret Carlson.
Red for Trump or red for socialism…. Wtf does that even mean!? Lol
Instead of reading the Eli Lake piece, I'll think I'll just have AI whip up the equivalent.

I appreciate the kind and thoughtful comment.
With the title, I thought we were getting a recommendation for Noam Blum and Jen Monroes podcast.... also titled the Ambitious Crossover.
Re Bartman: the 2003 Marlins are still underrated because of the whole Bartman mess, in addition to being absolute crap the next 20+ years
