The Moynihan conversation with Ethan Strauss is great, even though MM starts things off on that often sports-oriented podcast by strongly insinuating that (some? many? most? all?) TFC listeners throw like girls which to be fair I for one do 🙋♀️. But he loves us, he hastens to add (too little too late Michael sorry but the damage is done -- besides we all know that MW is the pod dad who loves us best)
What a huge audience for Kmele & Dawkins, wow; really dwarfs the setting for TFC Chicago but that's okay we like keeping things intimate
It’s very clear that we are dear to Matt’s heart, Moynihan views us as anything from a mild annoyance to that one guy you wave hi too every day on the subway. For kmele we are naught but a bottomless money pit for him to dive in.
Hah, jokes on MM. Varsity in two sports and can still throw a laser spiral at 43 despite my shoulder being a mess. Just hurts a lot.
Also my 7 and 11 years olds can both throw a tight spiral and/or a strike. I am always just shocked and horrified whenever some normal looking guy throws like a girl. Seems so shameful, which is silly, but there it is.
I cracked open my email while still in bed and read the Firehose. An hour later I'm still lying here. Haven't clicked a single link beside the outro, but my David Bowie live varietal game is strong this morning. Church, *check*!
No, the other one. The one allied with Benny Belvedere, which is his real name. Maybe he is her editor. The woman who published Kmele’s PERSONAL text. The kerfuffle was because they couldn’t abide Coleman asking questions they didn’t like. Wolfe also handled the Coleman interview badly
Obviously not the folks who are fans of coleman's. This response from balko was worth while because coleman continue to put out false claims to be debunked. If it was just coleman doubling down on what he already said it probably wouldn't be worthy of much response, other than maybe acknowledging that coleman has completely lost credibility on this topic. Unfortunately coleman took it further and dig up new bs claims.
But I get that it won't move the needle on people who are fans of his, or those who are way to credulous to this sort conspiratorial right wing crap. Of course people are entitled to wrong "opinions", but when you make your living doing something akin to journalism and have a huge following and your spewing bull shit, it warrants corrections from more credible journalists, so people who care about the truth can see who the trust worthy source is on this topic. Which is not hard to discern if you honestly read coleman and balko, and don't have terrible epistemics clouded in conspiratorial thinking and partisan bias.
HIGNFY is a British institution, although it's been off the boil for years now. Interested to see how it takes in the US. If there's a Fifth-adjacent guest every week it might well be worth tuning in. Hell, while we're at it, could this be the perfect excuse to get you boys over to Blighty? Put in an appearance alongside Merton and Hislop? 🤞
I hope the Warszawa music choice was a direct result of me reminding you that David Bowie had four unimpeachable albums in a row, including the one that track is from.
Speaking of Matt Walsh, did anyone see the "Am I a Racist? movie? I found it hilarious and kinda sad to see just how susceptible people are the the grift of DEI. The scene with Robin D'Angelo is rather jaw dropping actually.
Also I really enjoyed the 2Way convo . The people asking questions were so civil and insightful, and it is very re-assuring to have a space (5th column in general) where folks are treated with respect for having complicated and politically non-binary views and the hosts actually knowledgeable and charming.
The British Have I Got News For You (or rather, the original host getting caught in a coke n hookers tabloid sting) is one of the two incidents that led to Brexit. The other is Eric Joyce getting drunk and punching someone in a bar in Parliament.
This was posted at the perfect time (754am) on the West coast. I'm in the mood for a little Sunday morning current events talk. I checked ABC This Week 🙄 nope, switched over to Meet the Press 🙄 nope. Hm Dissident Dialogues on Mainstream media, yes please.
I've been listening to the fifth for a couple of years now, if not longer, and I will admit for the first 6 months of casual listening I thought Matt Welch and Walsh were the same person. I even listened to Walsh’s podcast thinking it was Welch’s solo material. So dumb. Lol
What I want to know is who put their "vote" on the dotted line? The tiny Venn diagram (Kamala's favorite infographic style btw) intersection of Welch lovers & Walsh lovers
Thanks as always for all the info/links Matt!

I suspect MM's tolerance of us goes way up if we're at the bar & buying.
How dare you gender how we throw! I throw like a non-binary, thank you very much!

And yeah that Kemele/Dawkins photo is great.

Jesus Christ, who is still paying attention to the balko feud?
Balko.
I should have seeen this coming
What was the woman’s name again that came for the boys? Worked at reason.
Liz Wolfe?

Oh yeah. I don’t remember her name.

Moynihan v. Cooper becoming just as tedious.
Release the Balko tapes!
Just when I thought I couldn’t love Matt more, he got that Philly question on Odd Man Out! 🥰🥰🥰
Also, Matt, you looked really natty in your jacket/tie combo.

It wasn’t, but I did appreciate it!
Way to burst my balloon there, Matt! That's it. Put my circle on Walsh.

Mainstream in it's current form, where no one is watching, and no one trusts them deserves to whatever happens to them.
I really can’t stand Meghan kelly
Loved you guys on 2Way! Keep the good work y’all!
