Drop all the links you want, but until you write an entire article called "The Case Against Trump" you're as good as MAGA to me. It needs to make very clear that Trump is an enemy to freedom.
I would never vote for Trump, and I'm a little surprised and slightly disappointed at some of the so-called heterodox centrists who've come out in full support of him, but even more surprised and disappointed at Young, TCW, Singal, et al. for their vacillations between anti-Trump hysteria and a smug, solopsistic sense of superiority, their highly uncharacteristic bad faith representations of opposing views, and complete unwillingness and/or inability to even entertain the notion that they may not be 100% correct on this. I've always respected them and enjoyed their work, but right now I think they all need to down a Xanax with a large glass of wine, then grab a road map and flashlight to find their way out of their own asses.
We flipped when we saw that National Voter Report ad while we were watching the World Series. I think the spare production, stark black & white emblem, and flat voiceover were all meant to evoke the serious importance of "This is a test of the Emergency Broadcast System". How creepy and alarming that they think giving these over-the-top Stasi vibes is laudable
I'll admit to being sadly mistaken. I was really hoping that having MM on Maher right before the election could calm Bill's nerves with rational thought. Miller just talked over MM every time he was about to nail a point and Maher allowed him to every single time. It's one thing to say "you can hate Trump, but you can't hate the millions who voted for him" and then shut down any rational argument that Trump may not be as dangerous as his rhetoric from someone who doesn't even like him. ... That being said, if MM is ever in Texas again, I would buy him a drink for attempting it in the first place. 🥃
I think it's the obligation of all of us to try to cool the temperature, without any expectation that someone on the "other side" will do the same. Everyone is so wound up, and it feels like something may pop.
Very little of the discourse around voting entertains the idea that maybe a person doesn’t show up to vote because the candidates suck. The failure to vote is mostly viewed as deficiency in the voter. That’s seems backward to me.
I am not surprised the heterodox pundit world is fracturing in the face of this upcoming election. It is nice to see folks within this world are finally willing to come out and offer critiques of there fellow heterdoxist, or whatever new phrase it will morph into. I look forward to reading TCW's article and hearing their response. I know for a media criticism podcast, they are a lot better at dishing it out than receiving it, but I guess that is true for most people. I think there has been some massive blind spots amongst the fifth and others for a while. Their perversion of nuance takes where they hide behind thin veneer of reasonableness to draw flimsy comparisons between the 2 political parties is starting to lose its effectiveness I think. Its shallow and distorting analysis is becoming more obvious as of late.
Speaking of insufficiently denouncing Trump...If you ever need a good laugh, head on over to BlueSky and see former guests of this podcast up in hysterics on a daily basis. Self-flagellating "I'm on the good ones" in order to signal to the in-group. Screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/KgyN1v1.png
Can they define what the "libertarian movement" is? Because it has never been a monolith. Directional libertarians, AnCaps, cosmotarians, minarchists, rothbardians, etc. Of course there will be a variety of responses by them and very few will choose "vote for Kamala Harris." The audacity to expect a bunch of weirdo libertarians to behave like a Bay area wine mom and be offended by it.

I get letters like that! With my name on it! It even had the breakaway edges that made it look official. the cowards have a PO box.

This was my first time hearing Miller, but jesus he came off as an insufferable prick.
Unsurprising given the source, but how could this be written with a straight face "there is not a single Never Trump libertarian you could name"?

Raskin is just terrible.
Fact check true though that TFP community is full of MAGA dipsh*ts. I just hope Bari keeps putting out interesting content!
They probably aren’t as tolerant as the people here…
It's brutal.

I have been getting a version of the Evil Election Commercial (and texts, calls, flyers) for like 6 months (I'm in Wisconsin).
It's a weird one. My conservative and liberal friends equally don't know what this is supposed to scare you into doing.
Cathy Young was always deranged and engaged in "you can't sit with us" style teenage girl politics. She's just gone off the deep end.

"...how the end always is" ...fitting. Damn, I love that song. Does Kmele know The Cure?
Ivermectin? 🤣
There’s a homosexual Irish throuple joke in the subhed; it just needs a little finesse…

To leave the libertarian party, Shikha Dalmia would have to actually be a libertarian to start with.
