Copy and paste the url for the NYT obit into the second section of the web archive below where it says "I want to search the archive for saved snapshots". Someone shared this on twitter and it has been a life saver, it works for pretty much every article from a major publication that I have tried so far.
It feels punk relative to the music scene at the time, no? It also works as a ref with Doolittle (1989 Matt! Come on Pilgrim was ‘87) because Gouge Away is the template for Smells Like…but it’s rarely mentioned that the “loud quiet loud” sound was perfected years before by The Gun Club.
The Mojo v Buchanan split screen should be the cover of a jangly, faux-folk music album of obscene tracks about Jean Dixon and farm animals. I'd buy the vinyl.
I’m getting pretty good - or just had a good week. I’ve watched or listened to about half of these. Or maybe I have no life. Either way, I’m happy about it. Now to catch up on all the rest…
Thanks again for giving us worthwhile shit to give our attention to. Also, still bummed about Mojo.
My favorite from that era is the wackos saying the distorted open to Queen's One Vision is Freddie saying "Satan is coming back." The funny bit is that Freddie is singing "God works in mysterious ways." :D
Welcome to The Free Press, Yasha.
No Dead Milkmen reference in your Mojo Nixon eulogy? Sir, I might suggest that your piece could use some fixin…
Pray for Mojo.
I can't believe I hadn't seen this Crossfire clip - thank you.
And since I'm here: FREE JOHN SINCLAIR!!
I’m not sure what Matt is implying here but the End Of Innocence is one of the greatest albums of all time in my opinion
Thanks to the Connecticut College campus radio station for introducing me to Mojo back in the late 80s, as I commuted to my job in New London.
Anyone have a way to read that Mojo Nixon obit without having to subscribe to the failing NYT?

Knights In Satan's Service! (Rock on!)

The one I remember was from Live Bites by Def Leppard. I was told the garbled voice at the end says”Jesus Christ of Nazareth, go to hell.”
hahaha that's a good one. And Def Leppard of all bands.
