Get-Me-Thru-the-Weekend Links: Hammer Time, Matt in the NY Post, SF Meetup
I mean, it’s still Friday SOMEWHERE, amirite?
Hi gang, sorry for the delay; it’s been one of those days/weeks/months/years. Soon, Allah willing (praise be upon him), we may have…reason to back-explain certain quieter stretches.
* But hey, that’s not this week, right? You got the one and only Mary Katharine Ham in studio, with ALL the (listener-supplied) tequila, and let’s just say my favorite email on same came from Mark, who, at the end of a very nice and informed bit of feedback about what we do, wrote: “The last 10 to 15 minutes of the podcast did not make a lot of sense:).” To which I can only add, Buddy, at least you didn’t have to hear the NEXT three hours! Anyway, here’s MKH’s classic 2009 Weekly Standard piece, “The Town Halls of August,” her more recent Atlantic essay, “Kids Shouldn’t Have to Be ‘Resilient,’” plus a link to her podcast Getting Hammered, w/ Vic Matus.
* I have been swamped with various, but when the New York Post asked if I could contribute to the anti-Randi Weingarten literature, I could not pass up the opportunity to comment on the American Federation of Teachers honcho. Their headline, in classic style: “Teacher’s union head Randi Weingarten is COVID’s most evil official.”
* As mentioned last week, the “completely unsanctioned” San Francisco meetup featuring yours truly and whoever else shows is currently scheduled for Tony Nik’s (which looks like a fine place, and I’m pretty sure I’ve been there) at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 16. I will likely be on the bedraggled side, be forewarned.
OK! Have a fun Super Bowl, y’all, and Go Rams, etc.
