Wild to me that Moynihan's VICE report about doing comedy on college campuses is from 2018, seems so current with the Chapelle/Rock kerfuffles. Also, saw this comment and thought it was a nice sentiment: "I'm a journalist and I come back to this video often because the reporter in it does an awesome job. He holds both sides accountable and asks thought provoking questions to both."
I think a lot of this stuff was really roiling on college campuses after the Trump campaign kicked off in 2015, and it trickled into the culture until 2020 blew it up.
Glad I'm not the only one who reads comments on videos. I think that one encapsulates one of the reasons Moynihan's a good journalist. My impression of the interviewees was that they had good intentions and were responding rationally to totally bonkers incentives, and were either too immersed in the ideology or too scared to call out crazy ideas.
I thought about sending an email, but then didn't. But given that Winning Time was very fun, I had some thoughts on how great it would be if there was something similar, but instead was focused on the '86 Mets.
Will we ever get a better Moynihan Reaction Face than when the tiktok stars were explaining their entire situation to him? It was like the monkeys encountering the Monolith from 2001.
I know I’m going to get blasted for this (hopefully in mocking nerd-cent by Moynihan), but Matt/Kmele, y’all really gotta turn off the auto-focus on your camera. The constant refocusing during your Megyn Kelly interview made me more nauseous than the cleaning staff responsible for a Madison Cawthorn hotel room. Moynihan, your feed looked great.
Live episode was a treat! Listened with a bottle of scotch and a friend from Michigan who I recently introduced to the Fifdom. Currently listening to Lex Fridman's Stephen Kotkin interview. It's good! Should check it out.
Hey guys, I see the criminologist Grant Duwe has written for Reason. I wonder if he'd do an hour on the pod? I own his book Mass Murder and it's such a good primer on understanding America's long media history with these tragedies.
Went back and listened to episode #12 that was linked (Pulse Nightclub) and Kmele definitely said “Kerfluffle” on it.
That would be some good inside baseball merch, imo.
would buy kerfluffle merch
Question for MM: where can we find your reporting from your time in Ukraine?
How do I get to Louis CK island
First, get your passport...
Adèle! Gentle nudge for the next show to be in DC... sounded like a lot of fun.
I appreciate the inclusion of l'accent grave!

Oh man....
right?
Thanks John! Unfortunately this doesn’t include Moynihan attacking Ad-Rock with the chopsticks...
This show was great! Time to stop flying over us and do one in Chicago!
Love a good Fifth / Megyn Kelly crossover https://www.stitcher.com/show/the-megyn-kelly-show/episode/criminalizing-speech-and-performative-outrage-with-kmele-foster-michael-moynihan-and-matt-welch-ep-328-203452445
Who's our lovely banner-clad model? Is she the 27 year old?
I do not know her age, but she is not me. Would have absolutely added the flag to my existing Moynihan ensemble if I’d known it existed, however.
Okay, I'm going to request an image of the ensemble now...
It’s the shirt! Matt’s post from May 15 has a better image of it (not on me)
Camera adds ten pounds but subtracts five years? I suppose I'll take that compromise.
Well it's lovely. Excellent use of a prop (I'm literally watching America's Next Top Model as I type this).

Did they post the beastie boys interview? Didn’t see that in bold.
Not linked but it’s here! https://youtu.be/AsgUsVJCvS8
Where was the chopstick?!
